THE CARPET CLEANING PROCESS

THE RUG CLEANING PROCESS

All rugs are inspected, handled, cleaned, spotted, rinsed, and dried individually.

We use a low pH emulsifier; no alkaline side detergents which can be damaging to wool.

Each rug is carefully and thoroughly vacuumed to remove any particulate soil.

The emulsifier is machine brushed into the rug with very soft bristles to loosen attached soils.

The rug is then fresh water rinsed to remove both the detergent and soil, so as not to leave residue to promote re-soiling.

If needed, specialized spotting is done to any areas of the rug with remaining spots or stains and subsequently rinsed again.

The rug is dried or speed dried in a controlled environment in order to ensure no color bleeding.

Each rug is individually wrapped for delivery or pick-up.

THE DRAPERY CLEANING PROCESS

Draperies are dry cleaned on location safely and effectively.

Draperies are extraction cleaned by a certified technician using professional drapery extraction equipment and using only clean and fresh dry cleaning agents and not re-used or recycled solvents.

Soils removed in the standard cleaning process include dust, pollutions furnace and fireplace soot, light smoke, etc.  Because of the delicate nature of drapery fabrics, watermarks may not be removable in some cases.  Heavy nicotine staining will more than likely not release completely.

There is no shrinkage because water is not used.

Draperies and headers will not lose their shape.

Windows, trims and wall are protected with a plastic sheeting hung behind the drapery during the cleaning process.  Floors and carpets are protected with a heavy tarp.

All draperies are inspected inch by inch while being  cleaned by the technician for any required specialized spotting treatment.

THE LEATHER CLEANING PROCESS

Leather cleaning is a two step process comprised of hand cleaning and hand conditioning.

The entire leather piece is cleaned by hand with a specialized leather cleaner utilizing a soft bristle brush.  A mild detergent spotting agent is used when spotting is necessary.  Crevices and decks will be cleaned and vacuumed.

The natural oils in the leather are then replenished with a specialized leather conditioning product.

A polypropylene mitt is used to hand recondition and buff out the piece.

It should be pointed out that leather is a natural product and as such may contain natural "beauty marks" and flaws that cannot be removed by cleaning. (Remember that somebody used the leather before it was on the upholstery).

ANINLINE & NUBUCK LEATHERS

These leathers require very special handling and will be cleaned only after testing and with special processes.

THE UPHOLSTERY CLEANING PROCESS

The difference between our upholstery cleaning process and most other companies is that our technicians are certified and trained to clean fabrics with a water-based method.  The alternative, a dry cleaning process, does not remove water-soluble soil and visually there is no difference before and after cleaning. The cleaning products we use are specific to the type of fabric on the upholstered piece. Our technicians pre-condition and hand extract all fabric areas using the most advanced extraction equipment available.

Based on normal usage, upholstery should be cleaned every two to three years.  Many manufacturers’ warranties even require professional cleaning every year.  However, cleaning frequency depends on the usage of the piece, the color and type of fabric, and the frequency of vacuuming.

Exclusively Yours prides itself in being the finest high quality fabric care specialists in the Twin Cities area.  Our technicians have over 35 years combined experience.  Their experience will provide you with the best quality and care for your valued furniture.

Exclusively Yours Interior Care uses hot water extraction cleaning from very powerful truck mounted units that develop consistent heat, pressure and vacuum to deeply clean and restore carpets.  Trained, certified, and experienced technicians are used on the job.

The Wool Bureau along with  the major manufacturers and fiber producers recognize hot water extraction cleaning as today's preferred method for the most effective soil removal from carpets.

The carpet is first over sprayed with a medium pH, environmentally safe detergent that is compatible with wool and stain-resist carpets.  Heavily soiled traffic lanes and soiled areas are then agitated with a carpet pilator in order to loosen stubborn soils.

A high pressure and temperature fresh water rinse is injected into the carpet to further loosen oily and particulate soils from the carpet fiber.  The temperature of 180 degrees along with the proper cleaning solution and agitation work as excellent surfactant boosters to deeply clean and restore the carpet.

The high level of vacuum (water lift) from the truck-mounted unit extracts water, soil, and cleaning solution form the carpet fiber and returns it to the van's waste water tank.  This fresh water rinse is conditioned to leave the carpet fiber pH neutral.  (High pH cleaners can damage wool and stain-resist nylons).

Stairways and hard to reach areas and some edging receives additional attention with a hand extraction tool.  Baseboards are wiped down with a towel where necessary.

If spots remain during the cleaning process, the technician will employ a special kit with various specialized spotting agents in order to remove them.

Furniture pieces will be moved by the technicians during cleaning, cleaned under and returned to their places.  Plastic tabs or blocks will be placed under furniture legs to protect the legs and the carpet during the drying process.

A Teflon stain resistant protection will be sprayed on the carpet after the cleaning if it is requested.

The carpet will be groomed (raked) with a pilator brush to remove wand marks and to reset the carpet nap.

Carpets will dry completely between 3 and 18 hours depending upon the carpet's density and construction, airflow and humidity within the home.  Increasing airflow with fans, air conditioning or open windows will speed up drying time.  Traffic paper for walkways will be placed if requested.
